“Bouquets to Art” at De Young Museum, SF

The inspirational/artistic statement: The striking color combination of crimson, turquoise and gold, together with the sumptuous textures of the plaster carvings, convey a scene of wealth and domestic bliss. The painting inspired me to create an arrangement for the “Gilded Age” that symbolizes the imperialistic drive and economic expansion that brought about such wealth. Palm fronds, protea, anthurium represent the plunder of distant lands that generated this prosperity.
